Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site inspections of vehicle conditions for dealer clients within a designated territory.

• Safely locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer client premises.

• Confirm vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; accurately enter data into systems.

• Examine and document the exterior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components.

• Assess and record the interior condition, covering seating, dashboard, and installed options.

• Carry out basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.

• Identify and document any damage, missing components, or non-operational features.

• Establish trust with dealer clients through consistent quality, professionalism, and responsiveness.

• Educate clients on the benefits of Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services.

• Engage with dealers to boost inspection volume and ensure active participation.

• Leverage data, insights, and partner feedback to enhance inspection efficiency and productivity within the territory.

• Adapt to alterations in daily appointments and schedules to maintain dealer coverage.

• Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.

• Utilize Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and tracking customer performance.

• Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other teams at Manheim.

• Contribute to process improvements in a continuous enhancement and Lean environment.

• Meet production expectations set by leadership.

• Adhere to safety and health procedures and engage in Safety Excellence initiatives.

• Comply with Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.

• At the senior level, conduct advanced inspections, mentor peers, support onboarding, and act as a subject matter expert.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required for Level 1.

• Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field, or any degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED, or 5 years’ experience in a related field.

• Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ experience in a related field, or any degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED with 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience in a related field.

• Minimal automotive knowledge is preferred for Level 1.

• 0–1 years of automotive-related experience is preferred for Level 1.

• 1–2 years of automotive-related experience is preferred for Level 2.

• Previous vehicle inspection experience is required for the Senior Level.

• Strong automotive knowledge (both body and mechanical) is required for the Senior Level.

• 2–3 years of automotive-related experience is highly preferred for the Senior Level.

• 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections is recommended.

• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.

• Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role within the specified timeframes.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
