Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations of vehicle conditions for dealer clients within a designated territory.

• Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer client lots.

• Confirm vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; accurately input data into systems.

• Assess and document the exterior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components.

• Evaluate and record the interior condition, including seating, dashboard, and installed options.

• Conduct basic mechanical checks on powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.

• Identify and document any damage, missing components, or non-functional features.

• Establish trust with dealer clients through consistent quality, professionalism, and responsiveness.

• Inform clients about the Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services.

• Engage with dealers to boost inspection volume and ensure active participation.

• Leverage data, insights, and partner input to enhance inspection efficiency and productivity in the territory.

• Adjust to changes in daily appointments and schedules to ensure effective dealer coverage.

• Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.

• Utilize Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and tracking customer performance.

• Work collaboratively with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams to support client success.

• Contribute to process improvements in a continuous enhancement and Lean environment.

• Meet production expectations set by leadership.

• Adhere to safety and health procedures and participate in Safety Excellence initiatives.

• Follow Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.

• Senior inspectors conduct advanced inspections, mentor peers, support onboarding, and serve as subject matter experts.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required for Level 1.

• Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field; alternatively, any degree or certification beyond a HS diploma/GED, or 5 years of experience in a related field.

• Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years of experience in a related field; alternatively, any degree or certification beyond a HS diploma/GED and 3 years of experience, or 7 years of experience in a related field.

• Basic automotive knowledge preferred for Level 1.

• 0–1 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 1.

• 1–2 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 2.

• Previous vehicle inspection experience is required for Senior Level.

• Strong automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) is required for Senior Level.

• 2–3 years of automotive-related experience is strongly preferred for Senior Level.

• 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections is recommended.

• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.

• Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

• Must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
