This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Responsible for maintaining and repairing light construction equipment, such as skid steers, chippers, trenchers, and mini-excavators, either at Home Depot locations or customer job sites.
• Conduct regular visits to stores to assess equipment and execute preventive maintenance tasks.
• Keep records of equipment conditions and finalize maintenance and repair work orders.
• Provide training to Home Depot store associates and customers on the correct operation of equipment and large equipment operating procedures.
• Maintain certifications for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms.
• Ensure accurate tracking of parts and fleet inventories.
• Facilitate the transfer of equipment between different locations.
• Uphold vehicle compliance according to company, federal, and driver standards.
• Introduce new equipment to stores, conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs), deliver equipment, and educate associates.
• Evaluate equipment for rental readiness, safety, and adherence to store appearance standards.
• Perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Respond to service requests and procure necessary parts.
• Utilize the company's technology platform to log labor and parts for all completed tasks.
• Assist with the delivery and pickup of equipment.
• Receive regional guidance when setting and aligning short- and long-term objectives.
• Undertake additional tasks as designated by the supervisor.
• Report to the Regional Field Operations Manager; no direct reports.
• Work from Sunday to Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Must live within 20 miles of Norfolk, VA.
• Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Must comply with DOT medical certification standards.
• Required vision capabilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Significant physical capability is necessary, including lifting, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling under equipment, climbing on equipment, reaching, and stretching.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements of the hands, wrists, and arms.
• Ability to work at heights occasionally.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Capable of negotiating, addressing complaints, resolving disputes, and handling grievances with both internal and external customers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in servicing construction equipment.
• Knowledge and skills in light construction equipment maintenance, including small engines and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical repair and parts manuals, covering mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.
• Experience and willingness to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Familiarity with inventory management practices.
• Proficient in using handheld technology, including smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with various personality types and all levels of associates.
• Capability to work independently.
• Ability to operate in extreme outdoor working conditions.
• Adaptability to unforeseen circumstances, such as changes in weather and traffic conditions.
• Associate's degree or a similar qualification in a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Full-time employment.
• Option for multi-site or virtual work arrangements.
• Overnight travel is typically less than 10% of the time.
