Mining Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• Develop, communicate, and execute underground mine designs and schedules for Pogo Mine.

• Create and implement designs for underground drift and fill stope.

• Produce short- and medium-term production schedules.

• Deliver weekly production schedules to the mine operations and geology teams.

• Design and oversee the mine ventilation network.

• Create and execute paste backfill designs.

• Develop and implement ground control and support designs.

• Conduct financial evaluations and cost analyses for operating and capital project justifications.

• Identify, communicate, and aid in resolving safety hazards.

• Perform additional assigned duties and projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field.

• Valid Driver's License.

• Must successfully complete a post-offer physical and drug test.

• Must pass a background check.

• Preference for two years of technical experience in underground mining or tunneling.

• Preference for experience and/or training in VentSim, Deswik, MineVulcan, or other mine design software.

• Knowledge of underground mining techniques and relevant planning methods.

• Strong commitment to safety, health, and responsible environmental practices.

• Effective communication skills.

• Familiarity with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act and Regulations.

• Capability to work a 15-day-on, 13-day-off rotating schedule, potentially exceeding 12 hours a day.

• Ability to work at a remote campsite under extreme and fluctuating weather conditions, as well as varying levels of dust, noise, light, and in confined spaces.

• Visa sponsorship is not available.

• Preference given to candidates residing in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Delta, and Tok regions.
