This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the main liaison for scientific and drug discovery collaborations.
• Oversee partner interactions, meetings, follow-ups, and continuous engagement.
• Develop and sustain milestone trackers, meeting schedules, deliverables, action items, and governance protocols.
• Facilitate Joint Scientific Committees including their structure, agendas, preparation, documentation, and follow-through.
• Coordinate efforts among R&D, toxicology, product, commercial, and business development teams.
• Align scientific goals, partner expectations, timelines, and execution strategies.
• Assess partnership health and actively pinpoint and escalate scientific, operational, timeline, or relationship risks.
• Discover renewal, expansion, and new collaboration opportunities and convey commercial insights.
• Manage transitions from business development to execution while ensuring ongoing communication with both partner and internal teams.
• Assist in overseeing intricate biotech, pharmaceutical, academic, and government collaborations with established milestones, reporting obligations, and multiple organizations.
• Contribute to the establishment of Deep Origin's alliance-management operating model, governance frameworks, and best practices.
• 3-5 years of experience in alliance management, partnership management, biotech/pharma business development, or a closely related area.
• Proven experience in managing external partnerships involving various organizations and internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrated capability to manage daily external partner relationships rather than functioning solely as an internal project manager.
• Experience handling multiple concurrent partnerships, milestones, meetings, deliverables, and fluctuating timelines.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, chemistry, biotechnology, life sciences, or a relevant discipline, or equivalent scientific experience.
• Strong scientific fluency and comprehension of the drug development process.
• Ability to engage in discussions related to safety toxicology, ADMET, and hit-to-lead drug discovery, understanding their implications for program advancement.
• Excellent relationship-building skills and a highly client-oriented approach.
• Capability to quickly establish trust and communicate effectively with scientists and business stakeholders.
• Strong judgment regarding escalation and independent issue resolution.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and proactive; adept at establishing order where processes are developing.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup setting with shifting priorities, milestones, and timelines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with scientific, product, program, and commercial teams.
• Willingness and capability to travel regularly to partner sites, company meetings, and industry conferences.
• Experience managing partnerships from both perspectives of an alliance.
• Nice-to-have: background in biotechnology, pharmaceutical R&D, drug discovery, computational biology, or related life sciences.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with ARPA-H, DARPA, NIH, or similar government-funded scientific initiatives.
• Nice-to-have: experience with Joint Scientific Committees or similar governance frameworks.
• Nice-to-have: multi-year research collaborations with scientific milestones and formal governance.
• Nice-to-have: management consulting experience with life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical clients.
• Nice-to-have: experience in partnership renewals, expansions, or commercial development.
