Middle School Special Education Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Provide tailored instructional support to middle school students with special needs.

• Manage instructional programs for students with special needs virtually from a home office in Ohio.

• Engage in all phases of the IEP process.

• Collaborate closely with teachers and special education professionals to ensure program effectiveness and adherence to federal and state regulations.

• Leverage technology to facilitate virtual instruction.

• Oversee and deliver instructional guidance, virtual teaching, and general strategies for a caseload of students needing direct and/or indirect services.

• Create, document, implement, and monitor IEPs and 504 plans.

• Track student progress, complete report cards, and hold parent conferences.

• Communicate with students' IEP teams, including parents/learning coaches, related service providers, and school personnel.

• Provide direct services via web-conferencing software as necessary.

• Schedule, organize, and conduct IEP-related meetings virtually.

• Participate in the school's Student Support Team.

• Assist teachers and learning coaches in developing and implementing program modifications and strategies.

• Support with IEP documentation, paperwork, and procedures.

• Coordinate related service providers as required by IEPs.

• Maintain accurate records in the Learning Management System and special education software.

• Aid in state testing and coordinate IEP-required special adaptations.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must possess an Ohio Certification to be eligible.

• Must live within 30 miles of an Ohio border.

• A valid Ohio Special Education Certificate is required.

• Degree in Special Education or a related Education Field is necessary.

• Successful completion of background checks or clearances, including the Child Abuse History Clearance.

• Experience in policy (IDEA) and/or administration within Special Education.

• Proficient technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Highly organized and punctual.

• Customer-centric approach.

• High degree of flexibility and adaptability.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Record of being a team player.

• Willingness to travel for marketing, state testing, and other school events, including occasional overnight travel.

• Ability to work effectively from a remote location.

• Must be capable of using a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
