This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +3 more states.
• Deliver targeted social studies course content for middle school students in an online setting.
• Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Tailor learning and differentiate instruction according to each student's level of mastery.
• Enhance course materials utilizing established policies, procedures, and virtual learning tools under the guidance of the principal and coach.
• Oversee the learning process with an emphasis on the unique needs of each student.
• Track student progress via Stride K12's learning management system.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Notify administrators regarding any concerns related to student performance and progress.
• Prepare students for critical standardized tests.
• Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with families.
• Communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.
• Collaborate with fellow educators to leverage student data for informed instructional choices.
• Travel for in-person professional development, student assessments, and other school-related activities.
• Active Middle School 4-8 Generalist or 4-8 Social Studies Certification.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Current state teaching license.
• Ability to pass required background checks.
• Capacity to work independently, generally committing 40+ hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during work hours.
• Typically available during school-defined hours, such as 9-5 or 8-4.
• Strong preference for candidates residing in Texas; residents of NM, OK, AR, or LA may also be considered.
• Willingness to travel as needed, averaging once per month or approximately 20% of the time.
• Experience working with the target age group.
• Proficiency in assisting both adults and children with technology use.
• Experience teaching in either an online or traditional classroom environment.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms.
• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data for instructional purposes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to swiftly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Capability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
