This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Deliver specialized middle school science curriculum content in an online setting.
• Provide instructional support and guidance while overseeing the learning process.
• Tailor learning experiences to meet the individual needs and mastery levels of students.
• Track student progress using Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Collaborate closely with students and parents/learning coaches to facilitate learning towards set goals.
• Offer both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Enhance course content with approved synchronous and asynchronous tools.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity for students.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Notify administrators of any concerns related to student performance and progress.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Foster positive relationships with families and maintain responsive communication with students and parents/learning coaches.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.
• Travel for in-person professional development, student assessments, and other school-related obligations.
• North Carolina Middle School Science Teaching Certification or Elementary K-6 certification.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Active state teaching license.
• Ability to pass required background checks.
• Residency in North Carolina or a bordering state within a 30-mile radius.
• Out-of-state residents must possess a North Carolina teaching certification.
• Capability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during work hours.
• Experience working with the target age group (preferred).
• Experience assisting adults and children with technology (preferred).
• Experience teaching in an online or traditional brick-and-mortar setting (preferred).
• Familiarity with online learning platforms (preferred).
• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint (preferred).
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms (preferred).
• Capability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum (preferred).
