Middle School English Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Deliver designated course content in an online setting

• Offer instruction, support, and guidance

• Oversee the learning process and concentrate on the individual needs of students

• Track student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system

• Collaborate closely with students and parents/learning coaches to promote learning towards set objectives

• Provide engaging and interactive synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences

• Tailor learning for all students

• Differentiate instruction based on student mastery levels

• Enhance course content using suitable asynchronous and synchronous tools

• Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity

• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion

• Notify administrators of any concerns related to student performance and progress

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments

• Build and sustain positive relationships with families

• Communicate and respond promptly to students and learning coaches/parents

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues

• Travel as necessary, averaging once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student assessments, and school obligations

⛳️ Requirements

• Michigan Teaching Certification is required

• Middle School English certification is mandatory

• Must be a resident of Michigan

• Bachelor's degree is necessary

• Active state teaching license is required

• Capability to pass the required background check

• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week

• Capacity to maintain a professional home office without distractions during work hours

• Experience with the specified age group is preferred

• Experience assisting adults and children in using technology is desirable

• Experience teaching in an online/virtual or brick-and-mortar environment is preferred

• Familiarity with online learning platforms is desirable

• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data is preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is desired

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms is desirable

• Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum is preferred
