Mid-Level Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate as the second in-house engineer with the Lead Software Engineer and an external technical consultant.

• Begin writing code from day one for specified feature tasks.

• Contribute to the gradual transition from a legacy monolith to a modern architecture using Next.js and .NET on Azure.

• Develop functionalities for the platform's V2 architecture.

• Take full ownership of larger features as the V2 platform evolves.

• Assist in shaping the engineering practices within a growing team.

• Create software that serves millions of learners in the fields of education, health, and climate initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Approximately 3–5 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• A strong mission-driven focus and a desire to make a significant impact.

• Proficient in production React.

• Comfortable working across the stack, with an estimated 80% frontend and 20% backend responsibilities.

• Openness to perform backend development tasks.

• A self-driven individual capable of navigating ambiguity within a small team.

• Familiarity with Next.js is beneficial but not mandatory.

• Experience with Azure is advantageous but not essential.

• Knowledge of C# or .NET is a plus but not required.

• Background in education, international development, or building for low-connectivity environments is helpful but not necessary.

• Comfortable serving as the second engineer in-house while collaborating with a Lead Software Engineer and an external technical consultant (desirable but not mandatory).
