Mid-Level Network Security Engineer – Palo Alto

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Configure, deploy, migrate, validate, and troubleshoot firewalls and associated security services from Palo Alto Networks.

• Assist in discovery, implementation planning, testing, cutover, rollback, documentation, and the transition of operational activities.

• Manage security policies, NAT, routing, VPN, high availability, logging, threat prevention, and environments managed by Panorama.

• Engage in client workshops, technical reviews, and knowledge-transfer sessions with growing independence.

• Collaborate with senior engineers, Technical Project Leads, PMO, and Delivery Operations to identify risks and ensure predictable outcomes.

• Establish trusted relationships with clients through strong accountability, clear communication, and dependable delivery.

• Generate implementation plans, test results, as-built documentation, diagrams, and knowledge-transfer materials.

• Contribute insights gained, implementation standards, reusable playbooks, and delivery documentation.

• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing within the Network Security practice.

• Assist during scheduled maintenance windows and travel as necessary for client delivery.

• Complete ongoing security awareness training and adhere to company policies.

• Identify and escalate security risks to the relevant Executive Leadership Team member and participate in remediation efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-7 years of experience in network security, firewall engineering, or enterprise networking, including hands-on project execution.

• 2+ years of experience with Palo Alto Networks, covering implementation, migration, operations, or troubleshooting.

• Proficient knowledge of PAN-OS, Panorama, security policies, NAT, GlobalProtect, site-to-site VPN, routing, high availability, logging, and security profiles.

• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP/OSPF, segmentation, identity services, certificates, and dependencies in enterprise networks.

• Experience in supporting discovery, implementation planning, testing, cutover, rollback, and operational transition activities.

• Ability to produce clear technical documentation, diagrams, implementation plans, test results, and knowledge-transfer materials.

• Experience in Professional Services, consulting, multi-site deployment, or customer-facing delivery is strongly preferred.

• Preferred to have a professional-level certification from Palo Alto Networks or be actively progressing toward one; PCNSA or PCNSE legacy credentials are also relevant.

• Experience with Prisma Access, Strata Cloud Manager, GlobalProtect, decryption, SD-WAN, cloud firewalls, or SIEM integrations is advantageous.

• Additional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Security, Security+, CISSP Associate, Azure Security, or AWS Security are a plus.

• Excellent communication, ownership, and collaboration skills with the ability to escalate risks before they become issues in delivery.

• Must reside in the United States.
