This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, create, and assist in securing scalable application modules utilizing Java and Thymeleaf.
• Employ AI conversion tools alongside manual techniques to transform legacy PowerBuilder modules into a contemporary Java codebase.
• Collaborate with client teams to assess technical specifications, guarantee seamless testing, and deliver high-caliber code.
• Provide expert advice to enhance application performance, reliability, and security.
• Engage in code reviews and offer constructive feedback to peers.
• Document technical processes and solutions comprehensively.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems effectively.
• Operate within an Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using two- to three-week sprints, daily scrums, and sprint tracking tools.
• Function within a DevSecOps delivery model by incorporating security and quality measures into the pipeline.
• Assist in maintaining automated Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines that build, test, scan, and deploy code.
• Triage and address findings from Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), and software composition analysis.
• Create automated unit and integration tests to support continuous delivery and coverage metrics.
• Implement secure coding practices in alignment with OWASP guidance and applicable Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, including relevant Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust/NACI position.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Active/current 8140 IAT II certification.
• Over 6 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in building applications with Java.
• Understanding of REST APIs, data structures, and backend best practices.
• Experience working with Thymeleaf and Thymeleaf modules.
• Familiarity with the Spring Boot framework.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, application refactoring, database migration, and SaaS integration.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with cloud architectures including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, Ansible, and JFrog Artifactory.
• Understanding of Git/Git Bash, Git etiquette, and branching strategies.
• Experience in an Agile environment is highly desirable.
• Experience with PowerBuilder.
• Experience collaborating with remote teams.
• Background in working within the DoD or USAF is highly preferred.
• Experience using AI code conversion tools.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
