Mergers and Acquisitions Associate, M&A

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Identify and source software firms that align with acquisition criteria and key performance metrics.

• Develop and implement targeted email outreach and outbound calling initiatives.

• Experiment with new business development approaches and manage a substantial number of transaction opportunities.

• Build and nurture relationships with potential acquisition targets and investment banks focused on M&A.

• Carry out initial evaluations, including operational and financial analyses, as well as assessments of opportunities and risks.

• Oversee and sustain a comprehensive deal pipeline.

• Conduct industry assessments and market research.

• Review investment documentation and distill large amounts of data into analyses, presentations, and recommendations.

• Independently advance acquisition opportunities from sourcing to execution.

• Prioritize and assign tasks based on deadlines and the strategic significance of transactions.

• Offer ad hoc analytical and operational assistance to the team.

• Collaborate across functions to facilitate data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and transaction execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 to 3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development is required.

• Previous experience with M&A transactions in the software industry is crucial.

• Outstanding academic performance from a prestigious institution.

• A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline is beneficial.

• Professional maturity and comfort in engaging with C-suite executives.

• Highly proactive, self-driven, and independent, with strong sales and communication capabilities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven leadership potential.

• Solid grounding in accounting principles and financial modeling.

• Good comprehension of software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.

• Strong analytical skills, sharp pattern-recognition abilities, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
