Merchandise Demand Planner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain comprehensive demand forecasts utilizing both top-down and bottom-up approaches across weekly, monthly, and seasonal time frames.

• Evaluate historical sales data, trends, demand influencers, and performance metrics at category, SKU, and regional levels to pinpoint risks and opportunities.

• Execute in-season reforecasting, assess forecast accuracy, and perform root-cause analysis on discrepancies in forecasts.

• Synchronize demand forecasts with sales, margin, inventory, open-to-buy, and financial objectives.

• Detect over- or under-purchase risks and propose corrective measures.

• Collaborate with teams in Merchandising, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Inventory, and Finance to collect inputs and relay updates, risks, and opportunities related to forecasts.

• Embed product launches and lifecycle modifications into forecasting efforts.

• Assist in assortment planning, product performance evaluations, and strategy testing.

• Leverage demand planning systems, ERP solutions, Microsoft Excel, and BI tools to create reports and derive actionable insights.

• Ensure data integrity while fostering ongoing enhancements in demand planning and S&OP/demand review processes.

• Operate within a professional office or remote setting, engaging in frequent virtual meetings and cross-functional teamwork.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.

• 3–5+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or inventory management.

• Proficient in the use of forecasting tools, data analysis, and reporting techniques.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, capable of scrutinizing large data sets to produce actionable insights.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and prioritization skills.

• Ability to juggle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

• Detail-oriented mindset towards planning and analysis.

• Experience in a retail, omnichannel, or consumer goods sector.

• Knowledge of S&OP / Integrated Business Planning methodologies.

• Familiarity with Power BI, ERP platforms, or demand planning software.
