Data Center Capacity & Inventory Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the organization's global data center portfolio.

• Integrate disparate facility information into a single authoritative reference.

• Convert inventory data into forecasts for capacity, utilization reports, and analyses for moves/migrations.

• Establish and implement standards for documenting and reporting on power, cooling, rack, and spatial configurations.

• Evaluate space, power, and cooling needs for data center relocations, migrations, and consolidations.

• Provide capacity and utilization insights to inform resource allocation and planning decisions.

• Detect sites nearing power, cooling, or spatial limits and suggest solutions for mitigation.

• Ensure adherence to standards for resilience, safety, compliance, redundancy, and disaster recovery.

• Keep global inventories of facilities, space, power, cooling, racks, assets, contracts, and commitments up to date.

• Monitor utilization and available capacity at rack, row, room, and site levels.

• Anticipate capacity needs and propose options for expansion, consolidation, or reallocation.

• Generate reports and dashboards for leadership, finance, and planning purposes.

• Set data standards, naming conventions, and audit schedules.

• Conduct physical audits and align findings with recorded data.

• Collaborate with infrastructure/IT leadership, networking, cloud, security, procurement, finance, facilities teams, service providers, and business units.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing data center infrastructure at a multi-site or global level, preferably across a combination of owned and colocation facilities.

• In-depth practical knowledge of data center power, cooling, and physical space — including circuits, PDUs, UPS systems and generators, redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N), cooling systems, and containment strategies.

• Proven success in maintaining accurate inventory and capacity data across multiple sites.

• Experience in planning and executing data center relocations, migrations, consolidations, or build-outs.

• Background in colocation and vendor management, including contracts, SLAs, capacity commitments, and cost control measures.

• Strong analytical and reporting skills, advanced proficiency in spreadsheet applications, and familiarity with BI or reporting tools.

• Experience coordinating efforts across various regions, time zones, and stakeholder groups.

• Relevant data center certifications such as Uptime Institute (ATD/ATS), BICSI DCDC, or EPI CDCP/CDCS/CDCE (preferred).

• Knowledge of DCIM platforms like Nlyte, Sunbird, Device42, or Hyperview (preferred).

• Understanding of Uptime Institute Tier topology, ANSI/TIA-942, and ASHRAE thermal guidelines (preferred).

• Experience with hybrid environments that include on-premises, colocation, edge, and public cloud setups (preferred).

• Understanding of sustainability and energy-efficiency practices in data centers, including PUE and power reporting metrics (preferred).
