Supply Planner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the supply plan for direct raw materials, such as resin, color concentrate, colorants, and other production inputs.

• Transform production schedules and demand forecasts into time-phased material plans.

• Place, manage, expedite, and adjust purchase orders as requirements evolve.

• Establish and maintain lead times, safety stock, min/max levels, reorder points, order multiples, and MOQs.

• Balance supplier minimums and bulk purchase economics against excess inventory and cash risks.

• Oversee excess and obsolete exposure, including aged and slow-moving inventory.

• Plan and replenish purchased components across Asia, Mexico, and domestic suppliers.

• Manage replenishment cycles, including supplier production, transit, customs clearance, and inbound receipt.

• Coordinate with overseas offices, freight forwarders, and Logistics for bookings, container utilization, and ETD/ETA management.

• Prepare for international disruptions and seasonal factors, including Chinese New Year, peak-season capacity, port congestion, and tariff/trade-policy changes.

• Purchase according to forecast and define commitment horizons that extend beyond the reliable forecast horizon.

• Set safety stock and service-level objectives based on demand variability, lead times, and business priorities.

• Own inventory metrics such as in-stock and fill rates, inventory turns, months of supply, excess and obsolete dollars, and overdue purchase orders.

• Support new product development, suggest initial buy quantities, and manage phase-in/phase-out and end-of-life run-out processes.

• Collaborate with teams in Product Management, Marketing, Demand Planning, Logistics, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Customer Service.

• Communicate supply risks and recommendations to SIOP and leadership.

• Maintain precise dates, planning parameters, and order information in the MRP/planning system.

• Manage supplier delivery performance and assist with supplier scorecards.

• Utilize available tools, including AI, for reporting, exception review, and supplier follow-ups.

• Provide backup support to other Supply Planners and fulfill additional duties as required.

• Reports to the Material Planning Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in supply planning, material planning, or as a buyer/planner within an MRP/ERP environment.

• Experience in planning raw materials or components to support a manufacturing schedule, not just finished-goods replenishment.

• Experience managing long lead times for internationally sourced supplies, including those with lead times of 90–150+ days.

• Proficient working knowledge of MRP/ERP planning systems; familiarity with GAINS and Oracle is a plus.

• Practical experience in min/max planning, replenishment parameter management, and purchasing per forecast.

• Understanding of service levels and safety stock concepts.

• Experience in managing excess and obsolete inventory and assisting with new product launches.

• Strong technical capabilities, including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, handling large data sets).

• Candidates should anticipate a practical skills assessment as part of the interview process.

• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Product Management, Marketing, Demand Planning, and Logistics.

• Demonstrated success in a dynamic environment with frequent changes.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong sense of urgency, and accountability for outcomes.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Willingness to travel occasionally to business locations and suppliers.

• Preferred: Experience using AI tools in supply chain or planning tasks.

• Preferred: Background in the promotional products, retail, or consumer products sectors.

• Preferred: APICS/ASCM certification — CPIM or CSCP.

• Preferred: Familiarity with plastics manufacturing inputs such as resin grades, color concentrates, masterbatch, and injection molding constraints.

• Preferred: Basic knowledge of import fundamentals, including Incoterms, tariffs, duties, and customs documentation.

• Preferred: Experience with suppliers based in Mexico and conversational Spanish skills.
