
Medium Voltage Cable Termination Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Operate and oversee medium and high voltage systems
• Commission, test, and safely energize newly installed medium-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems
• Perform DOBLE DGA sampling and HIPOT testing
• Carry out maintenance and testing procedures on high voltage systems
• Install, terminate, splice, and maintain medium-voltage power distribution systems, generally ranging from 5kV to 35kV
• Assist the commissioning and construction teams during electrical and functional testing, start-ups, and troubleshooting
• Test and diagnose issues in switchgear, motor contactors, disconnect switches, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, surge protection devices, battery banks, UPS systems, power cables, protective relays, and meters
• Prepare and terminate shielded MV power cables utilizing heat-shrink, cold-shrink, taped, or pre-molded/separable connector technologies
• Connect cable ends to transformers, MCCs, RMUs, and switchgear
• Strip outer jackets, shields, and insulation layers; manage concentric neutrals; and apply stress-control components
• Conduct pre-energization electrical tests, such as insulation resistance (Megger) and high-potential (Hi-Pot) testing
• Identify and troubleshoot cable or termination failures in challenging industrial settings
• De-energize high-voltage systems, implement safety grounds, and adhere to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety protocols
• 2 to 5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical experience with a focus on medium voltage systems
• Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship, trade school certification, or manufacturer-specific MV training (e.g., TE Connectivity/Raychem, 3M, or AVO training)
• Valid OSHA 10/30-Hour and NFPA 70E compliance training
• For offshore positions, BOSIET/HUET or equivalent marine safety certifications may be necessary
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, cable schedules, and wiring routing maps
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces or at heights, pass rigorous fit-for-duty physical examinations, and undergo routine drug and alcohol screenings
• Proficient in MS Office software
• Over 10 years of commissioning or medium voltage experience
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Successful completion of a drug and alcohol test
• First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, GHS, Defensive Driving, H2S Awareness certifications
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Willingness to travel throughout the US as required
