This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Verify patient insurance following check-in and ensure that the information is accurate, updated, and properly documented.
• Examine denied claims, determine the reasons for denial, assist with reprocessing, and follow up on any missing information.
• Assess and process Explanation of Benefits documents and address EOB backlogs.
• Resolve outstanding insurance balances and issues related to patient accounts.
• Provide support for Cigna and Veterans Affairs claims workflows.
• Manage vendor payments, including processing check payments when necessary.
• Oversee the completion, accuracy, and compliance of SOAP notes.
• Monitor missed appointments, canceled appointments, and analyze scheduling trends.
• Generate reports on balances, appointments, EOB backlogs, denied claims, and other operational metrics.
• Facilitate communication among the provider, care team, and administrative staff.
• Identify gaps in workflow, billing issues, documentation delays, scheduling problems, and patient account concerns.
• Propose practical solutions to enhance clinic efficiency.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant.
• Experience in supporting a US healthcare practice.
• Familiarity with insurance verification, EOBs, claims, denied claims, patient balances, or billing support.
• Exposure to CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong executive presence and a professional communication style.
• Must be proficient in Mac OS.
• Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven leadership, ownership, or high-accountability experience in a previous position.
• Proactive mindset, with the ability to anticipate needs before being asked.
• Highly detail-oriented, especially with billing, documentation, and reporting tasks.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Emotionally intelligent and patient when collaborating with a busy provider.
• Confident, professional, and organized in communication.
• Capable of taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Resourceful and self-motivated in learning new workflows.
• Trustworthy, dependable, and comfortable handling sensitive information.
• Performance-based increase after 6 months.
