Medical Science Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Serve as a reliable and respected medical science discussion partner with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), centers of excellence, and other stakeholders within the DACH region.

• Identify, cultivate, and sustain scientific relationships with external experts, academic institutions, professional societies, and pertinent medical organizations.

• Collect, document, and convey actionable medical insights to guide local and EMEA medical strategy, scientific planning, and patient-centered initiatives.

• Formulate and implement a strategic territory plan that aligns with DACH medical objectives, EMEA priorities, and product or disease-area strategies.

• Deliver clinical and scientific presentations, provide medical information updates, and respond to unsolicited medical inquiries.

• Recognize educational gaps for HCPs and opportunities within patient pathways, which includes center mapping, diagnostic routes, referral patterns, and addressing unmet needs in rare diseases.

• Assist in clinical development, evidence generation, and real-world evidence initiatives, including trial-site identification, investigator engagement, investigator-sponsored research, and publication efforts.

• Contribute to launch preparedness, pipeline activities, and collaborative execution with Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Market Access, Commercial, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance/Quality Assurance, and EMEA teams.

• Support DACH-specific Market Access and German HTA processes, including providing scientific input related to AMNOG and generating value dossiers.

• Ensure that all activities are non-promotional, balanced, and comply with company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), local guidelines, and applicable regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree in a clinical, medical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences field is strongly preferred, such as MD, PhD, PharmD, MSc, MSN, MPH, or an equivalent relevant qualification.

• A minimum of 1-3 years of pertinent experience in Medical Affairs, field medical, clinical, scientific, or the pharmaceutical industry is required.

• Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or Medical Science Manager (MSM) is preferred.

• Experience in rare diseases or orphan drugs is an advantage, particularly in metabolic, genetic, or advanced therapy-related disease fields.

• Strong scientific understanding, including the ability to analyze scientific literature, communicate complex data clearly, and convert external insights into actionable medical strategy input.

• Proven ability to establish credible external relationships, effectively present clinical and scientific information in both live and virtual environments, and work independently in a field-based position.

• Fluent in both German and English; additional language skills pertinent to Switzerland are beneficial.

• Regular travel within the assigned territory is necessary; overnight travel and attendance at congresses may be required as needed.
