Medical Science Liaison – Genetic Counselor, Rare Disease

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +11 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as a scientific and clinical authority between Labcorp Cardiology/Neurology, Rare disease business, and key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), major medical associations, and academic institutions.

• Share, clarify, and educate stakeholders on relevant scientific and clinical knowledge primarily concerning rare diseases.

• Build and maintain long-term, science-driven relationships with key opinion leaders.

• Offer educational assistance to providers, payers, and advocates regarding Labcorp products and rare disease testing.

• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with prominent KOLs.

• Collaborate with healthcare providers, researchers, partners, influential clinicians, and advisory boards.

• Serve as a knowledgeable resource on Labcorp Genetics, rare disease products, and related disease states.

• Provide educational support for field sales and internal teams related to rare disease products.

• Engage with payer and insurer Medical Directors and members of professional organization guideline committees regarding product usage and coverage.

• Create multi-channel medical educational activities and resources, including speaker programs, presentation materials, and CME events.

• Participate in training for the rare sales team.

• Work together with the scientific communications liaison to develop suitable content.

• Attend scientific conferences and prepare meeting summaries for senior leadership and marketing teams.

• Engage in discussions surrounding product development and messaging.

• Travel for client meetings and attend 2-3 educational conferences annually.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics.

• Certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).

• A minimum of 2 years of clinical genetic counseling experience.

• At least 1 year of clinical genetic counseling experience specifically in the rare diseases specialty.

• Knowledge of key elements within the Rare disease market.

• Familiarity with molecular diagnostic technologies.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

• Ability to work from a home office 50% of the time.

• Overnight travel is typically 2-3 nights per week.

• Highly organized with exceptional time management capabilities.

• Strong ability to multi-task with keen attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient computer skills.

• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
