Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately, efficiently, and promptly process requests for the release of information.

• Retrieve and return medical charts for patients.

• Scan medical records with precision and ensure daily transmission.

• Date stamp requests while emphasizing relevant information.

• Validate requests and authorizations related to the release of medical information.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.

• Maintain equipment in optimal working condition.

• Deliver attentive and respectful customer service while addressing client inquiries.

• Receive incoming requests via mail, phone, and fax as necessary.

• Keep a clean, organized, and professional workspace.

• Stay informed about state laws and fee structures.

• Assist other facilities and manage backlogs as assigned.

• Adhere to client/site policies, HIPAA, as well as state and federal regulations.

• Safeguard confidentiality, security, and ethical standards when handling medical records.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma (or GED) is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or similar environment is preferred.

• Strong proficiency in computer software is essential.

• A general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

• Excellent organizational skills are crucial.

• Ability to type at a speed of 50 words per minute.

• Proficient in using fax machines, copiers, and scanning devices.

• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes is necessary.

• Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Proven skills in customer satisfaction are required.

• Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is essential.
