This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately, efficiently, and within established standards process requests for the release of information.
• Retrieve and return patients' medical records.
• Accurately scan medical records and transmit them daily in accordance with requests and procedures.
• Date stamp requests and emphasize relevant data.
• Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
• Maintain equipment in excellent working condition.
• Provide attentive and respectful customer service while addressing client concerns.
• Receive incoming requests via mail, telephone, and fax as necessary.
• Uphold a professional appearance and maintain a tidy, orderly workspace.
• Keep updated knowledge of state laws and fee structures.
• Assist additional facilities and manage backlogs as assigned.
• Handle privileged information with confidentiality and ethical considerations.
• A High School Diploma (GED) is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a medical records department or similar environment is preferred.
• Strong computer software experience is essential; general proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
• Excellent organizational skills are a must.
• Ability to type at least 50 words per minute is required.
• Proficiency in using a fax machine, copier, and scanning equipment is necessary.
• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes is essential.
• Must be self-motivated and a collaborative team player.
• Proven customer satisfaction skills are required.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is necessary.
• Must safeguard patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA regulations, as well as state and federal laws.
