Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately and efficiently process requests for the release of information, adhering to established timelines.

• Retrieve and return medical charts belonging to patients.

• Precisely scan medical records and transmit them daily in accordance with established requests and procedures.

• Date stamp incoming requests and emphasize relevant data.

• Verify requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, proper invoicing, and compliance with release protocols.

• Keep equipment in optimal working condition.

• Deliver attentive, respectful, and proactive customer service.

• Accept incoming requests via mail, telephone, and fax as required.

• Uphold a neat, clean, and professional appearance along with an orderly work environment.

• Maintain an understanding of state laws and fee structures.

• Assist additional facilities and manage backlogs as assigned.

• Adhere to client/site policies, HIPAA regulations, state and federal laws, and labor regulations.

• Ensure confidentiality, security, and ethical standards are upheld when handling medical information.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED) is required.

• At least 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or a similar environment is preferred.

• Strong proficiency in computer software applications.

• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.

• Excellent organizational abilities are essential.

• Capable of typing at a speed of 50 words per minute.

• Proficient in using fax machines, copiers, and scanners.

• Eagerness to learn new equipment and processes rapidly.

• Self-motivated with a collaborative team spirit.

• Demonstrated skills in customer satisfaction.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
