Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately, efficiently, and promptly process all requests for release of information.

• Retrieve and return medical charts for patients as needed.

• Scan medical records with precision and transmit them daily in accordance with requests and established guidelines.

• Date stamp requests and emphasize relevant information.

• Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and appropriate invoicing.

• Maintain equipment in optimal operating condition.

• Deliver attentive and respectful customer service while addressing client inquiries.

• Accept incoming requests via mail, telephone, and fax as required.

• Uphold a professional appearance and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

• Stay informed about state laws and fee structures.

• Assist with additional facilities and backlogs as assigned.

• Adhere to client/site policies, HIPAA, state/federal laws, and labor regulations.

• Ensure confidentiality, security, and ethical standards are maintained when releasing medical records.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED) is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or a similar environment is preferred.

• Strong experience with computer software; a general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.

• Excellent organizational skills are imperative.

• Ability to type at a speed of 50 wpm is required.

• Proficiency in using fax machines, copiers, and scanning devices is necessary.

• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes is essential.

• Must be self-driven and a collaborative team player.

• Proven skills in customer satisfaction are a must.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
