This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Handle the release of information requests promptly and effectively.
• Obtain and return patients’ medical records.
• Accurately scan medical records and send them daily in accordance with requests and established protocols.
• Date stamp requests and emphasize relevant information.
• Confirm the validity of requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
• Keep equipment in optimal working condition.
• Deliver attentive, respectful, and proactive customer service.
• Accept incoming requests via mail, phone, and fax as necessary.
• Uphold a professional appearance and maintain a tidy, organized workspace.
• Stay informed about state laws and fee schedules.
• Assist additional facilities and manage backlog tasks as required.
• Adhere to client/site policies, HIPAA regulations, and state/federal labor laws.
• Ensure confidentiality, security, and ethical standards when releasing medical records.
• High School Diploma (GED) is mandatory.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in a medical records department or similar environment is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in computer software; a general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.
• Exceptional organizational abilities.
• Capability to type at least 50 words per minute.
• Proficient in using fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
• Eagerness to quickly learn new equipment and processes.
• Self-driven and a collaborative team member.
• Demonstrated customer satisfaction skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations, company policies, and relevant state/federal laws.
