This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately, efficiently, and within established standards, process requests for the release of information.
• Retrieve and return patients’ medical charts as needed.
• Accurately scan medical records and transmit them daily according to established procedures and requests.
• Date stamp requests and emphasize relevant data.
• Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
• Keep equipment in optimal operating condition.
• Deliver attentive, respectful, and proactive customer service.
• Receive incoming requests via mail, telephone, and fax as required.
• Maintain a professional appearance and ensure a clean, organized workspace.
• Stay informed about state laws and fee structures.
• Accept assignments, support additional facilities, and assist with backlogs as necessary.
• Adhere to client/site policies and procedures, including HIPAA and labor regulations.
• Uphold confidentiality, security, and ethical standards when managing privileged medical information.
• High School Diploma (or GED) is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or a similar environment is preferred.
• Strong experience with computer software is essential.
• General working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
• Excellent organizational abilities are necessary.
• Must be capable of typing at a speed of 50 wpm.
• Proficiency in using a fax machine, copier, and scanning machine is required.
• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes is essential.
• Must be self-motivated and work well in a team setting.
• Proven customer satisfaction skills are necessary.
• Ability to multitask is required.
• Must protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations, company policies, and applicable state and federal laws.
