Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately, efficiently, and promptly process requests for the release of information.

• Retrieve and return medical charts for patients.

• Scan medical records with precision and transmit them daily in accordance with requests and established standards.

• Date stamp requests and emphasize relevant data.

• Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.

• Keep equipment in excellent working condition.

• Deliver attentive and respectful customer service while proactively addressing client concerns.

• Accept incoming requests via mail, telephone, or fax as necessary.

• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.

• Keep the work area tidy and organized, ensuring proper storage of records and files.

• Stay informed about state laws and fee structures.

• Accept assignments, assist additional facilities, and help manage backlogs.

• Adhere to client/site policies and procedures, including HIPAA and regulatory requirements.

• Uphold confidentiality, security, and ethical standards while handling sensitive medical information.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED) is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting is preferred.

• Strong experience with computer software.

• General working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

• Excellent organizational skills are essential.

• Ability to type at a speed of 50 words per minute.

• Proficient in using fax machines, copiers, and scanning devices.

• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes.

• Self-motivated and a collaborative team player.

• Demonstrated customer satisfaction skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Must protect patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA regulations, company policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
