Medical Interpreter, Haitian Creole

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a courteous and professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific terminology relevant to the industry in which you are interpreting, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages without adding, omitting, or substituting any content.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service during interpretation sessions.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and thorough interpretation of messages.

• Implement established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training programs.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report progress to your team leader.

• Adhere to dress code standards for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target languages "Brazilian and European Portuguese."

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in telephone interpretation with a reputable interpretation company.

• Solid understanding of medical terminology.

• Knowledge of legal terminology is advantageous.

• Possession of international certifications in the healthcare sector is a plus (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Strong emotional intelligence and an appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.
