Medical Facility Surveyor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site Initial, Recertification, Revisit and/or Desk Audit, Complaint, Focus, and Pilot surveys for long-term care and non-long-term care programs across the United States and its Territories.

• Execute surveys in alignment with the State Operations Manual.

• Generate precise deficiency reports following the Principles of Documentation and the HMS Master Writing Guide.

• Clearly connect identified deficient practices with the relevant regulations.

• Utilize laptop or tablet technology for documentation while adhering to client deadlines and timeframes.

• Notify the appropriate Quality Assurance staff of Immediate Jeopardy and Substandard Quality of Care findings.

• Collaborate with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure that findings are thoroughly documented and defensible prior to submission to CMS or SSA.

• Adhere to established deadlines for submitting documentation.

• Execute responsibilities in accordance with HMS Core Values and relevant contract stipulations.

• Stay updated with CMS and HMS policies and procedures, Medicare regulations, and CMS QSO memoranda.

• Recognize opportunities to enhance the survey process and relay them to suitable leadership staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in completing CMS surveys is mandatory.

• CMS training specific to the provider types of interest is required.

• Possess critical thinking abilities and exhibit competent decision-making skills.

• Capability to perform all tasks required by the facility.

• Bachelor’s degree along with 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Preference will be given to registered nurses, LPNs, licensed social workers, and dietitians.

• Qualification for the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) for LTC surveyors is necessary.

• A licensed RN is preferred.

• Must be able to pass a federal background check.

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.

• Extensive travel is required.

• Must be willing to accept survey assignments as needed and as directed by CMS and HMS.
