Medical Coding Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Assist in the daily operations of the Medical Coding Department

• Offer operational support to Coding Managers without holding direct supervisory authority

• Organize workflows based on operational priorities

• Oversee coding work queues, assigning or reallocating workloads as instructed

• Address issues impacting productivity or turnaround times

• Respond to standard inquiries regarding coding, workflows, and operational matters

• Offer technical direction and mentorship to coding personnel

• Uphold departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards

• Aid in monitoring productivity, quality, and turnaround-time metrics

• Foster employee development through coaching, knowledge sharing, and educational initiatives

• Report performance issues, workflow obstacles, and compliance concerns to Coding Managers

• Support departmental training and educational programs

• Ensure adherence to coding, payer, Medicare, Medicaid, and organizational guidelines

• Assist with projects, workflow enhancements, system implementations, and process optimization

• Keep updated with coding regulations, payer requirements, CMS guidelines, and industry best practices

• Maintain confidentiality of PHI in compliance with HIPAA

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in medical coding

• Previous roles as a senior coder, lead coder, trainer, mentor, or similar position are preferred

• Current coding certification such as CPC, CCS, CIC, COC, RHIT, or RHIA is preferred

• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems

• Comprehensive understanding of CMS regulations, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI), Official Coding Guidelines, and payer-specific requirements

• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software

• Capability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information in line with HIPAA regulations
