Medical Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate clinical documentation and accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with payer regulations and coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).

• Process and submit insurance claims, ensuring coding precision and adherence to payer-specific requirements.

• Confirm the accuracy of claims and proactively address billing discrepancies.

• Investigate unpaid balances, underpayments, and pending claims.

• Collaborate with insurance carriers to resolve reimbursement challenges and recover collectible funds.

• Monitor, submit, and follow up on appeals and reconsiderations until resolution.

• Accurately post insurance and patient payments to accounts.

• Maintain prompt account activity records and precise patient billing information within the practice management system.

• Keep updated on coding revisions, payer policy modifications, and industry regulations.

• Work together with providers and administrative personnel to ensure efficient and compliant billing operations.

• Assist with internal audits and apply best practices to enhance billing accuracy and clean claim rates.

• Adhere to procedures, protocols, and HIPAA regulations; escalate complex matters to the supervisor.

• Complete any additional assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing and coding in a healthcare environment.

• Experience in Sleep Medicine and/or DME billing is highly preferred.

• Strong grasp of medical coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), billing processes, and insurance claim procedures.

• Professional coding certification (CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) is advantageous.

• Preferred experience working with private medical practices or outpatient clinics.

• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational capabilities.

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with an ability to navigate complex claim and reimbursement challenges.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to work autonomously and manage priorities in a remote setting.

• A genuine interest in sleep, health, and assisting individuals in understanding and enhancing their well-being.
