Medical Coding Supervisor – Day Shift

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Supervise the daily operations of the Coding Department by assessing workload and partner productivity to meet weekly and monthly objectives.

• Create guidelines, policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with government regulations and contractual reporting requirements.

• Organize coding and quality audits, reporting any infractions to the direct supervisor.

• Oversee the daily charge capture process to guarantee timely and precise claim submissions.

• Provide information to providers and relevant partners concerning any missing or inaccurate charges.

• Collaborate on projects with all Revenue Cycle entities.

• Act as a resource for clinical departments regarding correct reporting to third-party payers and adherence to regulatory standards.

• Train and develop both new and existing partners.

• Ensure retention of effective and budgeted Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs).

• Evaluate and address performance issues through coaching, feedback, and corrective measures.

• Perform HR responsibilities, including hiring, terminations, payroll management, and performance evaluations.

• Serve as a liaison between the Coding and Information Systems Departments concerning compliance updates and functionality enhancements.

• Conduct interviews, hire, train, plan, assign tasks, direct, appraise, reward, and discipline partners.

• Address complaints and resolve issues effectively.

• Ensure partner compliance with annual education and certification requirements.

• Directly supervise the partners within the Coding Department.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Associate's degree in a related field or a minimum of 8 years’ experience in provider coding or billing is required.

• At least 3 years of recent supervisory experience and 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

• Experience within a multi-specialty medical practice is preferred.

• Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) or an equivalent coding certification is mandatory.

• Successful completion of the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for applicable positions).

• Successful completion of the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions is essential.

• Capability to talk and hear; identify numbers, folders, colors, and computer printouts; and communicate effectively both one-on-one and via telephone.

• Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, mice, and telephones is necessary.

• Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
