Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Utilize ICD-10-CM and CPT coding methods to code hospital and professional inpatient visits, adhering to official coding and reimbursement standards.

• Operate under the general oversight of the Director of HIM and provide regular reports.

• Execute professional CPT coding for Medicare and similar payers.

• Abstract all necessary data elements into the WellSky EMR platform.

• Leverage the TruBridge encoder integration to assess Medical Necessity edits, CCs, MCCs, coding order, and DRG assignment.

• Keep up-to-date with coding regulations, guidelines, Medicare and similar payer policies, and hospital coding compliance practices.

• Code professional services in the Behavioral Health sectors for TaraVista and MiraVista Behavioral Health.

⛳️ Requirements

• An associate or bachelor’s degree from an AHIMA accredited program.

• Prior experience in Health Information Management, coding departments, and/or behavioral health coding facilities.

• Certification from AHIMA, including CCA, with full credentials obtained within one year of employment.

• Certification from AAPC, including apprentice status, with full credentials achieved within one year of employment.

• Medical Coding certification and/or a minimum of two years of psychiatric ICD-10-CM and CPT coding experience, including E/M coding according to the 2023 guidelines.

• Capability to accurately code using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 guidelines via the TruBridge Encoder integration within the EMR.

• Ability to code for one or more hospital locations.

• Experience with Medicare and similar insurance coding for professional services in Behavioral Health sectors for both TaraVista and MiraVista Behavioral Health.

• Maintain professional credentials and fulfill continuing education requirements.

• Residency in Massachusetts is preferred.
