This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Deliver both in-person and telephonic Medical Case Management services to injured workers.
• Collaborate with patients, their families, physicians, healthcare providers, employers, referral sources, attorneys, clients, and team members.
• Leverage medical and nursing expertise to discuss treatment and alternative plans with physicians.
• Assess, plan, implement, and monitor patient progress effectively.
• Review treatment plans for their appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Participate in visits with doctors, healthcare providers, at home, and occasionally with attorneys.
• Join discharge planning conferences at hospitals and long-term care facilities.
• Conduct home visits for initial assessments.
• Facilitate the delivery of durable medical equipment and nursing services through negotiation.
• Manage a caseload of workers’ compensation injured workers within a specified jurisdiction.
• Travel locally for approximately 60% of the work week/month, with potential overnight travel.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
• Current RN Licensure in the state of operation is essential.
• Ideal candidates will have experience as an RN Medical Case Manager or a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation.
• Certification as a CCM, CIRS, or another Case Management certification is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to designated locations.
• Capability to interact with patients, physicians, healthcare providers, attorneys, advisors/clients, and colleagues.
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with computers and possess technical skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
• Background in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is advantageous.
