Medical Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Process and send out medical claims via mail or electronic transmission.

• Monitor and track the status of claims.

• Supervise the authorization and eligibility of payor benefits.

• Oversee the collections process and manage cash receipt postings.

• Extract and validate billing information from medical records.

• Ensure the collection of overdue balances and conduct follow-ups as necessary.

• Confirm patient demographic and insurance details prior to claim submission.

• Address patient account inquiries and assist with alternate payment arrangements.

• Maintain accurate patient account records and resolve issues with third-party payers.

• Review Daily Reconciliation Review documents and input charges into the Practice Management System.

• Prepare and examine patient statements before they are released through the Practice Management System.

• Timely file claims for Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance.

• Reconcile daily charges and balance PMS reports.

• Collaborate with the revenue cycle manager and payers regarding denials and rejections.

• Work alongside practice representatives to ensure insurance verifications and authorizations are properly obtained.

• Report any suspected non-compliance to the Chief Compliance Officer.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• GED or equivalent, or a High School diploma or higher.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer.

• Demonstrated speed and accuracy with ten key data entry.

• Strong problem-solving abilities to handle various concrete variables.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Capability to interpret instructions presented in diverse situations.

• Excellent organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple projects at once.

• Compliance with HIPAA, Corporate Compliance Program, Corporate Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act, and relevant legal standards.

• Professional communication skills with patients and guarantors.

• Willingness to participate in mandatory orientation and training programs, monitoring and audits, investigations, and process improvements.

• Ability to meet productivity objectives and successfully complete required training.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
