This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee and/or allocate files to the suitable staff members while initiating verbal or written communication with employers, clients, claimants, and medical providers.
• Establish files in the appropriate systems and assign them to the nurse when necessary.
• Coordinate and arrange appointments.
• Keep the Telephonic Nurse Case Manager, clients, claimants, providers, and employers updated on changes, delays, updates, or issues.
• Maintain both electronic and paper files.
• Acquire medical release authorization from the adjuster when needed for record collection.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary providers, including those in physical therapy, diagnostics, and psychology.
• Identify, manage, and update participating providers.
• Utilize SharePoint to assess case risks and log activities into the Ultimate database and customer/client system.
• Handle incoming calls and route them accordingly.
• Process documents using a computer, copier, and scanner.
• Search and replicate relevant internal criteria guidelines.
• Screen reopened files to identify duplicate requests, appeals past the designated timeframe, reconsiderations, and new utilization reviews.
• Perform basic invoicing tasks.
• Continuously enhance job skills and knowledge through ongoing training and self-directed research.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
• Background in CNA, Medical Assistant, Physical Therapy Aide, Workers’ Compensation, Medical Unit Claims Administrator, IME Coordinator, or Medical Office Manager disciplines is advantageous.
• Experience with workers' compensation or disability is beneficial.
• Strong computer and internet skills, particularly with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Basic understanding of or eagerness to learn medical reports and terminology.
• Ability to research evidence-based guidelines effectively.
• Excellent verbal, telephone, and written communication skills.
• High efficiency and capability to maintain a rapid workflow.
• Strong aptitude for learning, organizational skills, and adherence to systems and procedures.
• Proficient in time management, planning, and prioritization.
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to express empathy towards injured and/or disabled individuals.
• Strong deductive reasoning and creative problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in independent thinking and problem-solving.
• A bachelor’s degree or an associate degree/certification with relevant professional experience.
