Medicaid Billing Clerk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee and coordinate weekly billing processes and invoice submissions.

• Prepare and re-submit corrected claims or invoices as necessary.

• Input billing information into databases for payer billing.

• Utilize clearinghouse or payer portal functionalities to appeal denied claims.

• Reconcile billing activities between the clearinghouse and host systems.

• Perform payment reconciliations and denial research through database queries and spreadsheet analysis.

• Ensure accurate receivable balances across various information systems.

• Generate reports based on Medicaid billing data and revenue.

• Modify patient bills by reviewing remittance advice and consulting with management.

• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies by conducting research and correcting errors.

• Conduct minimal business-to-business collection activities to maintain low and up-to-date receivable balances.

• Follow up on overdue payer remittances and payments.

• Identify and escalate emerging denial trends while performing root cause analyses.

• Assist the Revenue Cycle Management Team in achieving payer-specific revenue cycle objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must be residents of NY State to be eligible.

• Familiarity with medical billing terminology is essential.

• Proficiency in medical billing and clearinghouse systems is required.

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are a must.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are needed.

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel is necessary.

• High accuracy and speed in data entry is expected.

• A related Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but can be replaced with 1+ years of relevant experience.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing is required.

• Experience in self-directed work environments is an advantage.

• Relevant medical billing or coding certification is preferred.
