This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Serve as the main contact for clients, addressing inquiries and issues.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with clients.
• Lead as the primary mechanical engineer while coordinating with various disciplines.
• Oversee the mechanical team, which includes HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing specialists.
• Ensure projects are delivered within budget and on time.
• Create detailed specifications for mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, and air handling units.
• Prepare internal and external reports based on project findings.
• Verify that discipline plans align with project scope and scheduling requirements.
• Keep updated on codes and technologies related to mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems in hyperscale data centers.
• Assess mechanical system performance and suggest improvements.
• Provide technical assistance during construction, respond to RFIs, and resolve issues as they arise.
• Participate in job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as necessary.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Evaluate and propose technologies and equipment that enhance performance and lower operating costs.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate chiller systems within data center infrastructure.
• Analyze energy consumption and pinpoint opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or engineering, specifically focusing on data center infrastructure, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• A Professional Engineer License (P.E.) is mandatory.
• Significant experience in mechanical engineering for data centers or similar critical facilities.
• In-depth understanding of HVAC, piping, and fire suppression systems design and construction.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Capacity to think innovatively and identify ways to improve the client experience.
• Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software.
• Experience in data center design and construction, including adherence to design criteria and industry standards.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
