This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Serve as the Lead Mechanical Engineer for hyperscale data center initiatives.
• Design and supervise the construction of mechanical systems, comprising HVAC, piping, and fire suppression systems.
• Act as the main contact for clients, addressing inquiries and concerns.
• Cultivate and sustain robust client relationships.
• Coordinate various disciplines and lead the mechanical engineering team, including HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing.
• Create detailed specifications for mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, and air handling units.
• Prepare internal and external reports based on research findings.
• Ensure that discipline plans align with the overall project scope and schedule requirements.
• Stay updated on codes and technologies pertaining to mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Assess and evaluate mechanical system performance and propose upgrades.
• Offer technical support during construction, respond to RFIs, and resolve issues that arise.
• Participate in job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as required.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Assess and recommend technologies and equipment to enhance performance and lower operational costs.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate chiller systems with data center infrastructure.
• Analyze energy consumption and identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with ten (10) years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or engineering, emphasizing data center infrastructure, or equivalent experience and/or education.
• A Professional Engineer License (P.E.) is mandatory.
• Significant experience in mechanical engineering for data centers or other critical facilities.
• Strong expertise in the design and construction of HVAC, piping, and fire suppression systems.
• Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software.
• Experience in data center design and construction, including design criteria and industry standards.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other essential business activities.
