Mechanical Engineering Design Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee contracts established with external design consultants and contractors in collaboration with the Project Manager.

• Ensure that contractual obligations are fulfilled and take appropriate measures when they are not.

• Direct technical assurance, evaluate constructability, and manage design interfaces.

• Supervise, assess, and provide guidance throughout the design process.

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in developing project solutions.

• Collaborate with technical, operational, maintenance, strategic stakeholders, and design coordinators.

• Communicate with clients, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, contractors, and consultants regarding project-related issues, scope alterations, and risks.

• Promote innovative, practical, and sustainable engineering solutions that meet client, operational, and regulatory requirements.

• Integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into engineering and design solutions.

• Ensure seamless integration across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.

• Maintain constructability, maintainability, and reliability throughout the asset lifecycle.

• Provide design input on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects from initial concepts through to delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in managing design throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Strong comprehension of integrated design delivery and consultant performance management.

• Knowledge and experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.

• Degree qualified, or equivalent, in an engineering field, specifically Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

• Chartered Engineer (Preferred) status with CIBSE, IMechE, or a comparable institution.

• Extensive practical knowledge of construction work types, methodologies, and design solutions.

• Proficient in CAD applications (AutoCAD or Revit).

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members.

• Self-motivated and results-oriented with a positive attitude.

• Skills in people management, time management, and project design management.
