This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Create mechanical designs starting from concept sketches and advancing through detailed 3D models, drawings, and production release.
• Implement industrial design principles such as ergonomics, human factors, serviceability, proportion, and product aesthetics.
• Construct and manage parametric 3D CAD models and large assemblies within a cloud-based CAD platform accessible across different regions.
• Generate manufacturing-ready detailed drawings that include GD&T, tolerances, bills of materials, and engineering change documentation.
• Utilize design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly strategies to decrease part count, costs, and assembly time.
• Develop concept alternatives, renderings, and design studies to facilitate early decision-making and design evaluations.
• Design enclosures, brackets, mounts, guards, covers, and operator-facing hardware using sheet metal, machined components, molded parts, and fabricated materials.
• Ensure CAD data integrity, part numbering consistency, revision control, and maintenance of design libraries.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams based in the United States.
• Assist in the development of automated mobile heavy equipment aimed at reducing human involvement in hazardous field jobs.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
• 5 to 7 years of mechanical design experience, ideally in automation, robotics, automotive, industrial equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Robust industrial design capabilities with a background in concept development, product aesthetics, ergonomics, and hardware design.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably Onshape; familiarity with SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX is also advantageous.
• Experience in handling large CAD assemblies with multiple stakeholders while ensuring version control and proper configurations.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing standards (ASME Y14.5 or ISO).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, casting, extrusion, and injection molding.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Capability to independently manage tasks with minimal oversight.
• Solid understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
