
Mechanical Designer 3 – SmartPlant, Nuclear Power

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create mechanical general arrangement, piping isometric, pipe support, and mechanical equipment layout drawings within a 3-D model.
• Produce mechanical design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists utilizing Hexagon’s SmartPlant S3D modeling software and SPF database.
• Analyze piping and instrumentation diagrams developed with SPID and develop physical designs that align with engineering standards.
• Oversee the coordination of detailed design phases for all elements of an integrated mechanical design model.
• Address clashes and inconsistencies in the 3D model and communicate the status effectively.
• Collaborate with and guide designers and project team members to ensure designs are complete and delivered on time.
• Independently strategize and implement mechanical deliverables.
• Provide mentorship to junior drafters and designers.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams under the guidance of the Mechanical Project Lead.
• No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is available.
• At least three years of detailed design experience in creating mechanical plant design drawings, including piping, pipe supports, and equipment layouts.
• Proficiency in SmartPlant S3D modeling software.
• Knowledge of the integration aspects of SPID, SPF, and S3D.
• Experience in resolving clashes and conducting discrepancy checks between deliverables.
• Capability to collaborate with SmartPlant Administrators regarding mechanical deliverable templates and catalogs.
• Familiarity with Drawing Presentation Rules Set Up.
• Experience in managing plant model data.
• Skilled in design software tools for executing 3D plant layout models.
• Experience in reviewing project deliverables and drawing specifications.
• Experience in evaluating vendor drawings and interface points.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering and design teams from other disciplines in the plant design process.
• Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD (preferred but not essential).
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools (preferred but not essential).
