This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.
• Contribute to or enhance the design of mechanical systems for the construction of new industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities, as well as for renovations.
• Create construction drawings and specifications that address the installation, integration, interconnection, and control of mechanical components.
• Independently manage smaller, less complex projects with some oversight from the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
• Execute calculations and develop designs and layouts for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Generate engineering documents using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, or manually with assistance from junior staff.
• Edit or draft specifications for projects.
• Conduct field measurements and checks at construction sites.
• Review drawings for omissions, errors, quality, accuracy, and compliance with relevant standards and codes.
• Assess product submittals and determine actions needed for specification compliance.
• Maintain organized project documentation.
• Select and source necessary equipment.
• Collaborate on projects with other disciplines.
• Communicate any changes in scope to the department manager and Project Manager.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Engineer-in-training (EIT) certification is preferred.
• Previous internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
• Basic understanding of Building Information Modeling software, Autodesk Revit, and AutoCAD is necessary.
• Strong technical and analytical abilities, including knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics as they pertain to mechanical systems design for buildings.
• Familiarity with Trane Trace 3D Plus and Bluebeam Revu is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
