This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute and oversee design engineering activities for electronic and physical security projects of moderate to high complexity.
• Offer design engineering assistance to clients, vertical teams, and CTCs.
• Provide design or drawing support during both development and as-built phases of engineered drawings.
• Gather electronic plans and design drawings from engineers, architects, owners, sprinkler contractors, and mechanical contractors.
• Generate engineered drawings utilizing AutoCAD and related software tools.
• Prepare record drawings and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
• Uphold Convergint project design, documentation, submittals, and design standards.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, product specifications, electrical requirements, and AHJ guidelines.
• Engage in internal design reviews, project turnover meetings, initial site surveys, and walkthroughs.
• Provide project documentation, programming graphics, and other deliverables that meet standards and requirements.
• Prepare and facilitate material purchases for projects.
• Collect design information from vendors, insurance providers, owners, consultants, and AHJs.
• Obtain and manage project permits.
• Communicate design progress, completion timelines, scope changes, and associated costs to Project Managers.
• Discuss expected overtime needs with Project Managers.
• Carry out authorized change-order tasks and assist in change-order pricing.
• Prepare and modify submittal packages to secure approval.
• Offer operational support during the sales phase as necessary.
• Provide training and guidance to fellow designers.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
• A minimum of a two-year technical degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred.
• At least three years of prior experience in design, engineering, field service, or project management within the electronic security sector.
• A minimum of three years of experience with AutoCAD is essential.
• Possession of local, federal, and industry-specific licenses as required - Security.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong skills in Bluebeam.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
• Familiarity with intermediate and advanced drafting techniques.
• Understanding of practical, electrical, and fabrication challenges.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and AHJ requirements.
