
Mechanical Construction Estimator – Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Prepare comprehensive mechanical cost estimates for construction projects, which include HVAC systems, chilled water systems, piping, plumbing, and various mechanical equipment.
• Conduct quantity takeoffs from blueprints, specifications, and BIM models.
• Formulate pricing for labor, materials, and equipment that aligns with project budgets and delivery strategies.
• Maintain a repository of historical cost data, benchmarks, and lessons learned.
• Analyze contractor and subcontractor pricing to pinpoint scope gaps, cost risks, and opportunities for value enhancement.
• Assist in value engineering by assessing alternative systems and methodologies.
• Collaborate with design and construction teams regarding cost, schedule, and procurement decisions.
• Identify and evaluate risks associated with material pricing, labor availability, and procurement timelines.
• Account for regional cost differences across U.S. markets.
• Create documented estimating deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage in cost reviews, procurement discussions, and commercial strategy sessions.
• Assess scope changes and their corresponding cost implications.
• Comply with relevant SOX control responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Background in mechanical estimating, preconstruction, cost management, or a similar construction role.
• Experience in preparing quantity takeoffs, developing estimates, and assessing contractor or vendor pricing.
• Familiarity with HVAC and mechanical building systems.
• Proficient in using Bluebeam, OST, ProEst, Trimble AutoBid, or comparable estimating and takeoff software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Candidates must be physically located in the United States.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Experience in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, healthcare, life sciences, or large-scale construction projects is preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates located in the Pacific or Central time zones.
