This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Develop and uphold discipline-specific BIM standards for mechanical systems, encompassing HVAC, liquid cooling distribution, piping, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Create and document workflows for discipline coordination regarding model authoring, exchange, federation, clash detection, and approvals.
• Enhance BIM standards continuously based on project insights while aligning cross-disciplinary interfaces, shared parameters, and coordination priorities.
• Lead model reviews for the discipline across various projects, ensuring model quality, completeness, and feasibility.
• Facilitate clash detection and resolution at the discipline level for complex mechanical piping and ductwork, equipment clearances, and electrical/structural interfaces.
• Assist in fabrication-level modeling to support prefabrication and modular construction, including spool drawings, duct fabrication models, and skid or module assemblies.
• Engage in project coordination meetings as the mechanical discipline expert.
• Act as the main VDC contact for trade contractors, internal design teams, and external design firms.
• Educate partners on IREN’s discipline standards and assess their BIM execution capabilities.
• Review incoming discipline models for adherence to standards and provide structured feedback through necessary revisions.
• Document project lessons learned and integrate them into updates for standards, content libraries, and playbooks.
• Offer discipline expertise to corporate VDC initiatives, technology assessments, CDE workflows, and integration of model-data downstream.
• At least 5 years of experience in BIM/VDC coordination or mechanical building-systems design.
• Familiarity with HVAC, hydronic piping, plumbing, and fire protection in environments such as data centers, mission-critical settings, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP and Navisworks.
• Experience with fabrication-level tools like Autodesk Fabrication (CADmep), Victaulic Tools for Revit, or similar is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in creating or enforcing discipline BIM standards, content libraries, and coordination workflows across several projects or partner organizations.
• Strong grasp of construction sequencing, prefabrication, and field installation practices.
• Capability to evaluate model constructability beyond just geometric clash avoidance.
• Proficiency in collaborating with trade contractors, design firms, and internal engineering teams, holding partners accountable to established standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and fabrication facilities as necessary.
