MBA Intern – Strategy & Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage inbound and sourced leads through Soluna's qualification framework, assessing power costs, curtailment profiles, interconnection status and queue positions, land control, fiber and water availability, and counterparty credibility.

• Create one-page qualification summaries for each lead.

• Advise on whether opportunities should progress, be put on hold, or be declined, documenting the rationale behind each decision.

• Oversee the lead intake queue.

• Develop initial economic assessments for qualified sites, including estimated power costs, capacity sizing, indicative capital expenditures, and projected returns.

• Conduct sensitivity analyses on energy prices, curtailment hours, hashprice or contracted AI/HPC revenue, and time to energization.

• Challenge counterparty assumptions against market data and flag any unsupported claims.

• Maintain a clean and reusable screening model.

• Monitor opportunities across ERCOT, SPP, MISO, and PJM, tracking interconnection queue movements and curtailment trends.

• Update the pipeline tracker and executive summary for leadership review.

• Conduct market research, utilities, and counterparties to support ongoing deal discussions.

• Present a summer project to the Development & Strategy team and senior leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an MBA program.

• Expected graduation date to follow the internship period.

• Strong Excel modeling capabilities; comfortable creating a screening model from scratch.

• Proven analytical judgment with the ability to derive defensible conclusions from incomplete information.

• Clear and concise written communication skills.

• Genuine interest in energy, digital infrastructure, or the intersection of both fields.

• Preferred: previous experience in energy, infrastructure, project finance, investment banking, private equity, or corporate development.

• Preferred: familiarity with U.S. wholesale power markets, interconnection processes, or renewable project development.

• Preferred: exposure to market data platforms such as Orennia, Velocity Suite, or similar tools.

• Preferred: working knowledge of Bitcoin mining economics or demand drivers for AI/HPC data centers.

• Preferred: comfort in creating PowerPoint presentations for investor- and board-facing audiences.
