Master’s Scholarship Fellow – Intelligent Search, Recommendations, and Purchase Optimization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Assess and analyze the existing search functionalities of Mercado IGA, focusing on ranking systems, semantic search, and the relevance of results.

• Design models for categorizing equivalent offers to enhance Buy Box functionality and facilitate supplier comparisons.

• Develop conceptual search systems that can translate purchase intentions into organized product sets.

• Create solutions for the automatic generation of shopping carts from lists, commercial proposals, or descriptions in natural language.

• Construct multi-criteria optimization models to recommend shopping cart compositions based on the lowest cost, quickest delivery time, or minimal suppliers.

• Participate in an innovation initiative at ICT Itaú in collaboration with Inova Talentos.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed or ongoing master’s degree.

• An academic background or coursework in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, or Applied Mathematics.

• Relevant practical or academic experience in search, ranking, or recommendation systems.

• Proficiency in Python utilized for modeling, AI, optimization, or data science.

• Familiarity with embeddings, vector search, or similarity mechanisms.

• Experience with optimization algorithms or operations research.

• Understanding of multi-agent systems or intelligent-agent architectures.

• Capability to model decision-making scenarios that involve multiple criteria and constraints.

• Prior experience in marketplaces, e-commerce, procurement, or supply chain operations.

• Familiarity with Buy Box functionality, product matching, item recommendations, or basket optimization.

• Knowledge of multi-criteria optimization techniques.

• Experience with Elasticsearch, Typesense, or comparable search technologies.

• Understanding of graphs, ontologies, or semantic product representation.

• Contributions to publications, research, or applied projects concerning recommendations, optimization, agents, or intelligent search.
