Maritime IT Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ghana.

📋 Description

• Provide exceptional technical support and on-site services to maritime clients in various locations.

• Install, upgrade, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot VSAT systems (C/Ku/Ka-band), Starlink, and L-band terminals, including FleetBroadband and Iridium Certus.

• Execute onboard LAN/WAN setup, IP networking, firewall configuration, and cybersecurity compliance assessments.

• Deliver hands-on technical assistance for routers, switches, servers, Wi-Fi access points, and IoT maritime devices.

• Work collaboratively with NOC teams and remote engineering support to identify and rectify connectivity and system performance challenges.

• Complete site surveys, service reports, handover documents, and technical documentation.

• Adhere to safety protocols and client-specific guidelines during onboard interventions.

• Organize travel, tools, and spare parts in coordination with vessel agents, ship operators, and logistics teams.

• Offer customer training and onboard handover support as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in field engineering or maritime IT support roles (at least 2 years preferred).

• In-depth knowledge of maritime VSAT, L-band, and hybrid satellite systems.

• Strong grasp of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, and cybersecurity best practices.

• Familiarity with maritime regulations (IMO, ISPS) and the onboard IT environment.

• Ability to read technical diagrams and interpret system schematics effectively.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service abilities.

• Proficient in English; knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic) is advantageous.

• Valid seafarer’s medical certificate (ENG1 or equivalent).

• Willingness to travel internationally on short notice.
