
Marine Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.
β’ Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain marine diesel propulsion and auxiliary engines.
β’ Conduct inspections, overhauls, testing, commissioning, and field service activities.
β’ Identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues within engine systems.
β’ Execute MTU dyno acceptance testing and make adjustments to engines according to factory specifications.
β’ Utilize OEM diagnostic software to assess and optimize system performance.
β’ Perform service work on vessels, in shipyards, and at customer facilities.
β’ Keep meticulous service records, reports, and documentation.
β’ Assist in sea trials and commissioning processes.
β’ Professionally represent the company at customer locations.
β’ Maintain the company vehicle and personal tools.
β’ Mentor apprentices and adhere to safety and quality standards.
β’ Complete necessary manufacturer training and certifications.
β’ High School Diploma or GED; technical training or diesel certification is preferred.
β’ 3β5+ years of hands-on experience with marine diesel systems.
β’ Extensive experience with marine propulsion and auxiliary engines.
β’ Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
β’ Strong foundation in electrical and electronic diagnostics.
β’ Familiarity with brands such as CAT, Cummins, Volvo Penta, MAN, Detroit, Yanmar, John Deere, or FPT.
β’ Proficiency in using diagnostic software and electrical test equipment.
β’ Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation.
β’ Valid driverβs license with a clean driving record.
β’ TWIC card or the ability to obtain one.
β’ Experience in heavy-duty diesel and/or marine propulsion is essential; automotive/light-duty diesel experience alone will not be considered.
β’ Preferred experience with MTU 2000 and/or MTU 4000.
β’ MTU Service Professional or OEM training is preferred.
β’ Preferred experience with MTU electronic diagnostics, including ECU, MDEC, and/or DDEC systems.
β’ Experience with MTU DiaSys is preferred.
β’ Marine field service or shipyard experience is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with EPA Tier regulations and OEM standards is preferred.
β’ Experience with dyno testing, commissioning, or sea trials is preferred.
β’ Comfortable working independently in diverse environments, including confined spaces.
